Essential Duties

  • Plans, directs and oversees all aspects of the Arizona State University clinical research activities, policies, standards, and programs.
  • Provides direct medical oversight of all clinical research procedures that require a medical license. Maintain and comply with the State of Arizona Risk Management policies and procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate regulatory and compliance standards are developed, updated and communicated.
  • Provides strategic leadership andcontribute to the vision of the long-term expansion of clinical research activities.
  • Contributes to the planning, development and execution of clinical research initiatives.
  • Approves clinical research protocols.
  • Oversees all clinical research laboratory and tech staff.
  • Develops and implements a policy related to reporting of incidental findings and adverse events.
  • Participates in the efforts related to the continued growth and success of research initiatives in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Research and the Research Council.
  • Responsible for engagement of external key stakeholders relevant for growth of clinical research, particularly for the purpose of recruiting patients for clinical trials.
  • Represents the research team on all clinical research policy decisions.
  • Provides medical oversight to all clinical trials conducted at the ASU for both adult and pediatric studies.
  • Participate on the ASU IRB.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Twelve (12) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

    Desired Qualifications

  • ?Evidence of a Medical Degree earned from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical institution plus accredited residency in a relevant subspecialty. Board certified or equivalent;
  • Clinical research experience, 5-8 years in a clinical research environment.
  • Experience in research and publication history with evidence of extramural funding from federal agencies and industry, as a PI or collaborating investigator.
  • Evidence of commitment to translational research.
  • Experience inmanagement or leadership role in clinical and translational research enterprise.
  • Collaboration research experience, as evidenced by grant, publication and/or administrative activities in support of collaborative multidisciplinary research.
  • Working Environment

    Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses.Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
